Fresh off of a regional final appearance last year, Warsaw has reloaded and looks to be back this season.

Volleyball has also gone great in the early season. Warsaw and Tippecanoe Valley are still undefeated on the backs of stout defenses, and Triton has built off a great season last year with two wins out of three to begin the Zach Whittaker era. Whitko has already won more games than a season ago, while Wawasee and Manchester have already matched last year’s totals.

It’s been a banner year for football teams so far, with all six looking greatly improved from last season. Locally, it has been a whirlwind start to the fall sports season. There may not have been a plethora of top teams matching up, but there was enough chaos and touchdowns scored to keep me happy as an appetizer to this week’s main course. Colorado looks incredible under Deion Sanders, Clemson looks terrible under Dabo Swinney and it looks like LSU might have been just a tad overrated once again with Brian Kelly at the helm. Actually, my Missouri Tigers kind of did but we can move past that. College football began last week and did not disappoint. That place puts army fortresses to shame. My main takeaway was that if there ever is a zombie apocalypse, Lucas Oil is probably where I’d want to shelter up. Speaking of sports, I made my first ever trip to Lucas-Oil Stadium this summer to watch my Bears take on the Colts in the preseason with my wonderful girlfriend.

Alas, you are in the sports section and most likely don’t really care. Barbie, Spiderman: Across The Spiderverse and Mission Impossible 7 were among my other favorites of the summer, and truthfully, I could spend the next 1,500 words writing about the many movies I’ve seen this year. In a world oversaturated with crappy looking CGI, the fact that director Christopher Nolan was able to achieve what he did practically is a triumph for the world of cinema. And please, don’t get me started on the visuals. It is edited to perfection, mind-blowingly weaving the past and present together. The score is so breathtaking I still find myself listening to it in my car on the way to work. It features some of the best actors of this generation, and all of them give top performances of their careers.
MOS EISLEY STAR WARS MOVIE
Oppenheimer is a masterpiece from top to bottom and I have no problem calling it the best movie I’ve seen in the early years of this decade. When I saw John Wick 4 back in March, I was fairly certain it would not be replaced as my favorite movie of the year. I was able to see pretty much every big feature film I wanted to, with the best being Oppenheimer. Truthfully, my summer was spent mostly at the movie theater. I added a few LEGO sets to my collection and am currently working on the Mos Eisley Cantina from Star Wars. I had enough time to catch up on some video games I’ve wanted to play. Before we get into the magical entity that is the National Football League, I thought I’d take a second to fill you in with what’s been going on in the life of your favorite Times-Union sports editor. As you could probably gather from the title, I am once again taking a little time each week to talk about one of my favorite things in the world: the NFL. By being aggressive at the cantina, Obi-Wan also seemingly accepted the fact that he was ready to fully join the rebellion since he was no longer worried about disguising his identity throughout the rest of the Star Wars trilogy.Howdy, everyone. Chopping off Baba's arm was a way for Obi-Wan to narratively flash some of the Jedi skills in front of Luke while also showing he hadn't lost a step while in hiding like a hermit. This was just at the beginning of Luke's journey to becoming a Jedi, however, and he didn't yet fully understand the concept of the Force and the use of lightsabers. Luke already agreed to accompany Obi-Wan on a mission to get the Death Star plans to Alderaan at the request of Princess Leia Organa. That said, Obi-Wan was also sending a clear message to Luke about his power as a member of the Jedi Order. The establishment didn't attract the most respectable figures, and the Jedi wanted to let the other pirates know that he and Luke weren't figures to mess with, despite being noble Jedi. Obi-Wan also likely figured that his action would have sent a message throughout the cantina. By using his lightsaber, Obi-Wan eliminated the threat so he could carry on with his mission alongside Luke. In the Jedi's defense, both Evazan and Baba had blaster pistols, and Luke or himself could have been gravely injured if hit. Some viewers have questioned why Obi-Wan went as far as he did in the cantina, asking if chopping off Baba's arm was necessary.
